What is SUP Yoga?


SUP yoga is basically practicingyoga on astand up paddle board in the middle of a body of water.



How to start doing sup yoga?


Well of course it is better off you know already a bit about yoga practice at it will make your life easier knowing what you will have to do on the stand up paddle board!

However SUP yoga is actually a different approach of yoga in a sens where you have to focus on your balance and where every single move you would do (even the very basic one) can be challenging.



Why? Just because you’re entire body is going to be under muscle contraction.

It is in that sens a very efficient way to work out as you are always contracting your lower body without even being conscious of it!

Where to start SUP Yoga?


SUP yoga is best practiced on calm bodies of water like lakes, bays or harbors. ... People are even performing acroyoga onstand up paddle boards… but as we are not always living by the sea or lakes it is sometimes possible to practice SUP yoga in swimming pool.

Try to look around your city as it is getting very trendy!



Main tricks and tips? 


Well first of all you have to work on your on your body balance and try to be well aligned and centered. You don’t want to start doing some kind of crazy poses if you are not first able to stand straight on the board.SUP yoga is all about being focused and calm and concentrate on your movements and breath.You should always try to be calm and let go any source of stress who could cross your mind.

How to choose the board?


The most popular SUP boards for general use are 10-11 feet in length and between 32 and 34 inches wide. As stability is a high priority for SUP yoga, you'll maybe want to look for a board that is 33-34 inches wide.



What gear would you need?


You only need a SUP board and some kind of flexible and confortable water wear.

A pair of leggings is always a good option as it will keep your warm and will allow you to do many moves as it is very flexible.

You can add as well a neoprene bikini top or if it a bit chilly a wetsuit (not to thick for you to have enough freedom in your movement).
